2 killed in road mishap in Pälkäne

Two people were killed and another person was injured in a road accident in Pälkäne, a municipality under Pirkanmaa region on Sunday evening, police said in a press release on Monday.

The accident took place at about 6:00 p.m. when a private car with two people including the driver onboard, collided head-on with a truck coming from opposite direction near the city centre area.

Both the vehicles skidded off the road and fell into a roadside ditch after the collision and the car caught fire.

The driver and passenger of the car died on the spot while the driver of the truck was injured. The condition of the injured truck driver was not critical.

The police, however, did not divulge the identities of the deceased and the injured person.

Police and the Accident Investigation Board are investigating into the accident to find out the reason behind the accident.
