Elderly woman killed in Kuopio, suspect held

An elderly woman was killed inside an apartment house in Kuopio, a municipality under North Savo region on Saturday, police said in a press release on Sunday.

Police said that a 70-year-old man allegedly killed the 70-year-old woman and left the scene immediately.

Responding to an alarm, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body from the apartment.

Police also conducted extensive search at the locality and arrested the suspect from the nearby area.

The police, however, did not divulge detail about the incident and the identities of the deceased and the suspect but said that they knew each other.

The motive of the murder could not be known at the preliminary stage of the investigation.

Police are investigating into the incident as murder to get more information in this regard.
