A man was killed when a miscreant fired gunshots at him in an apartment house at Henttaa area in Espoo late Sunday night, police said in a press release on Monday.

The dead was identified as Janne Puhakka, a 30-year-old man, who was a former player of Ice Hockey team Espoo Blues in the season 2015-2016, local media reported.

The incident took place at about 8:00 p.m. when a 65-year-old man allegedly attacked the victim inside the house with firearm.

Responding to an alarm, several patrols of Western Uusimaa and Helsinki police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

They also arrested the suspect from the apartment.

A leading Finnish language evening tabloid Ilta-Sanomat reported that the suspect was longtime Norwegian boyfriend of the victim named Rolf Nordmo.

The police, however, did not divulge the detail identities of the deceased and the suspect.

The police carried out a technical investigation and interrogated the suspect to find out detail about the incident.

They are investigating into the case as murder.
