Boyfriend kills ex ice hockey player in a pre-planned way

The former ice hockey player, who was gunned down in Espoo, was killed in a pre-planned way by his Norwegian boyfriend, police said on Tuesday.

The suspect fired gunshots at the victim with a shotgun as the victim terminated relationship with him.

Western Uusimaa Police Department continued the investigation into a case of the suspected murder took place in an apartment at Henttaa in Espoo late Sunday night and interrogated the suspect.

“The suspect told that he shot the victim with a shotgun and caused the victim's death. The victim and the suspect had been in a relationship. It was revealed in the interrogation that the motive for the crime was the ending of the relationship between the victim and the suspect,” said police in a press release.

The emergency services were called by a friend of the couple. The friend came to check the situation after becoming concerned because he had not been able to contact the victim.

The firearm used by the suspect is a shotgun for hunting. The man had a permit to possess the weapon in Norway.

The suspect was in police custody and will be produced before the court seeking remand in custody.

As a result of the investigation, the criminal charge has been changed to murder as the suspect allegedly committed it with premeditation and in a particularly brutal and cruel manner.

The police are now seeking to clarify the background of the incident and the sequence of events at the time of the crime.

The police are interviewing witnesses and the suspect, as well as conducting a technical investigation.
