2 burnt to death in Imatra house fire

Two people were burnt to death in a fire at a detached house at Antreankatu area in Imatra, a municipality in South-Eastern Finland on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The fire broke out at about 5:20 p.m. and engulfed the house immediately.

Responding to an alarm, rescue service people rushed to the spot and tried to bring the fire under control.

The firefighters doused the fire and recovered the bodies of the deceased from the debris.

Police, however, did not divulge the detail identities of the deceased.

The origin of the fire could not be known immediately but rescue service people and police are investigating into the incident to find out the reason behind the fire.
