The national social insurance institution- Kela has suspended the procurement of products for the 2026 maternity package, said Kela in a press release on Friday.
The reason for the suspension is the decline in the birth rate, which has reduced demand for the package much more than anticipated.
Kela will launch a new procurement as soon as possible after adjustments to the procurement schedule and the volume of orders.
The authority will provide more information to the public once a procurement notice for products in the 2026 maternity package has been published.
In mid-August, Kela invited a tender for the products included in the 2026 maternity package.
Earlier in mid-April this year, Kela released its maternity box for 2024 containing 39 items.
