Stubb, Scholz discuss Ukraine, Middle East in Berlin

President Alexander Stubb and German Chanceller Olaf Scholz on Tuesday met in Berlin and discussed various bilateral and international issues including Ukraine and Middle East.

The President also discussed with the German Chancellor about his upcoming visit to China

“To conclude my visit to Berlin, I met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. We discussed the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East and my upcoming trip to China. Finland and Germany will continue to support Ukraine diplomatically and with defence material,” Stubb wrote in a post on his social media platform X after the meeting.

The President also met with former German chancellor Angela Merkel on the concluding day of his two-day visit to Berlin.

“Always a pleasure to meet my old friend Angela Merkel. We had lunch and discussed Russia, the Middle East and NATO. We also talked about her forthcoming book,” the President wrote in another post on X.

On Monday, the President and First Lady Suzanne Innes-Stubb participated in the 25th anniversary of the Nordic Embassy Complex in Berlin.
