10 killed in road mishaps in September in Finland

Ten people were killed and 339 others injured in 285 road accidents in the country in September, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of fatalities was three lower and number of persons injured 20 lower than in September 2023.

Out of the deceased, seven travelled by passenger car, one by moped one by motorcycle and one by bicycle in September 2024.

No pedestrian, however, was killed in September.

Among the dead, nine were men and one was a woman.

Meanwhile, a total of 121 people were killed and 2,510 others injured in 2,058 road traffic accidents in the January to September period of 2024.

The number of deaths was seven lower and number of persons injured 195 lower than in the corresponding period of 2023.

Of the persons who were killed, 60 travelled by passenger car, five by van, four by moped, 14 by motorcycle and two by lorry.

Pedestrians killed numbered 12 and cyclists 13. In addition, 11 other road users were killed.
