Man killed in shootings from own gun in Kiuruvesi

A man was killed in shootings reportedly fired from his own gun in Kiuruvesi, a municipality under North Savo region late Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place at about 8:00 p.m. when the 40-year-old man fired several rounds of gunshots outside of his apartment at Korkeakangas area in the locality.

Responding to an alarm members of different law enforcing agencies and rescue services people rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

During the operation police conducted search at the apartment of the suspected shooter and found him dead inside the apartment.

Police said that they did not use firearms during the operation.

No other person was injured and police did not suspect involvement of any other person in the incident.

The police did not divulge details about the incident and the identity of the deceased at the preliminary stage of the investigation.

They are investigating into the incident to find out more information in this regard.
