Supreme Allied Commander Europe visits Finland

Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), General Christopher G. Cavoli visited Finland from Thursday to Friday, said Finnish Defence Forces in a press release.

The visit was hosted by the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Janne Jaakkola.

During his visit, General Cavoli met the President of Finland and other government leaders.

His programme included a visit to the Naval Staff. During the visit, the security situation in the Baltic Sea region was discussed, as well as the capabilities of the Finnish Navy.

SACEUR is responsible for the overall command of NATO military operations and he is at the head of Allied Command Operations (ACO).

Command over ACO is exercised from the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) at Mons, Belgium. General Cavoli is also commander of the United States European Command.

In May, the visit of the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Janne Jaakkola, to Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) was hosted by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Christopher G. Cavoli.
