Firearm found at Jyväskylä school, 3 students suspected

Police recovered a firearm and a knife from the yard of a school in Jyväskylä, a city in the central Finland on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Police said that the students of the Mankola co-educational school found a bullet gun and the knife at the school ground at about 2:00 p.m. and informed the authority in this regard.

Responding to an alarm from the authority, police rushed to the spot and recovered the weapons from there.

The police also interrogated the students and staff of the school and after the preliminary investigation they found involvement of three under 15-year-old students in the incident.

The police, however, did not divulge detail about the incident and the identities of the suspects.

They will continue the investigation and talk to the parents of the students and the school staff to find out more information in this regard.

Terming the incident of finding firearm at educational institutes and public places as serious, police lodged a criminal report and a child protection report in connection with the incident.
