Tero Jokilehto, Senior Ministerial Adviser of the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications, has been elected vice-chair of the Civil Aviation Group for the next three years, said the ministry in a press release on Tuesday.

The Civil Aviation Group is a sub-group of the Transport Group, which is one of the planning groups under NATO’s Resilience Committee.

NATO’s Resilience Committee guides resilience activities within the Alliance. It aims to ensure the continuity of vital functions of society and government and the support for soldiers in their wartime tasks.

The Transport Group under the Resilience Committee has three sub-groups: civil aviation, inland surface transport and ocean shipping.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications’ branch of government exerts influence in all these groups as well as in the Resilience Committee’s Civil Communications Planning Group.

The Civil Aviation Group advises and makes recommendations in matters concerning, for example, strategic airlift capability, access to aircraft in support of NATO operations and missions, and problems and risks associated with civil aviation.
