The four-party alliance right-wing government on Friday survived a no-confidence motion brought against it in the parliament by two opposition parties over the worsening situation of country´s social and healthcare services.
The government won the motion by 98 votes to 70 with 31 lawmakers remaining absent.
The Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party of Finland) and Liike Nyt (Movement Now) on November 12 filed the interpellation accusing the government of its policies in handing the healthcare and social services sectors.
According to the interpellation, government's policies are wrecking the local social and healthcare services that people need and, through its indifference, ruining the social and healthcare reform.
In the plenary debate on the interpellation, several motions for resolution of no confidence were made and Parliament voted on them.
Interpellation is a question submitted by at least 20 Members of Parliament to the Government or a minister concerning a matter falling within their competence.
The purpose of the interpellation is to determine the confidence enjoyed by the government or the minister.
The government must reply to an interpellation in a plenary session within 15 days.
After receiving the reply to the interpellation, Parliament debates the matter and proceeds to vote on the government, or a particular minister enjoys the confidence of Parliament.
