Oldest Finn Stenbäck dies at 110

Gunnel Stenbäck, who was oldest known person in Finland died at a care home for the elderly people on Saturday at the age of 110, said the care home operator Deaconess Foundation in a press release on Sunday.
Stenbäck was born on September 21, 1914 during the regime of then Russian Empire and her birthday was celebrated just two months and nine days ago.
She had been living in the Alppikatu block of the care home.
Stenbäck started her studies at the Deaconess Institute in 1934 and after the study she worked at the institute in different positions until retirement in 1977.
Olli Holmström, Chief Executive Officer of Deaconess Institute said in the press release that Stenbäck played significant roles in different sectors of the institute including education, working with disabilities, mainlining international communication.
