President Sauli Niinistö and First Lady Jenni Haukio have become the parents of their first baby boy late Friday night, President office sources said.
The baby was born in a city hospital at about 8.00 pm and both the mother and baby were in a good health condition, said a press release quoting family sources.
Niinistö (69) and Haukio (40) got married on January 3, 2009. The child is Haukio’s first and Niinistö’s third child.
Earlier, in October 2017, the President announced the news of their upcoming baby.
“We are delighted to share our good news: if everything goes as expected, we will have an addition to our family in February 2018. We have been hoping for a child for a long time and have experienced many difficulties over those years. There have therefore been delicate issues related to the early days of the pregnancy, but we are able to share the news now,” Niinistö and Haukio commented on their announcement.
