Suspect of assaulting Kiuru held from Vantaa

Police on Saturday arrested the suspect of assaulting main opposition Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP) lawmaker Krista Kiuru on Friday, said police in a press release.
Members of the law enforcing agency arrested a 34-year-old man from Vantaa area at about noon for his alleged involvement in the attack.
Police said that they had good descriptions about the suspect and determined his identity through own investigation.
The police are investigating into the case to find out detail information about the attack and also trying to find out, if there is any political motive behind it.
Police, however, did not divulge detail identity of the suspect at the preliminary stage of the investigation.
The attacker suddenly punched long-term serving lawmaker Kiuru, also a former Family Affairs and Social Services Minister at Kaisaniemi Park in Helsinki on Friday afternoon on her way from the parliament building to bring her child from daycare.
