President Alexander Stubb, together with Prime Minister Petteri Orpo late Monday night had a telephone conversation with the Prime Ministers of Nordic countries and discussed about the new administration of the United States, said the President Office in a press release on Tuesday.
Stubb and Orpo during the conversation with the Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson, Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre, Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen and Prime Minister of Iceland Kristrún Frostadóttir discussed the cooperation with the US in the Nordic countries, Europe and the Alliance under the leadership of Donald Trump, who took over as the US President on Monday.
“We discussed the new US administration and future cooperation among the Nordic countries, in Europe and within the Transatlantic alliance,” Stubb wrote in a post on his social media platform X after the phone call.
Orpo also in a post on his social media platform wrote about the telephone conversation.
Meanwhile, Orpo on Tuesday urged people to keep a cool head after Donald Trump took over as the President of the United States, reported national broadcaster Yle.
"Trump is known for his colourful language, and he sometimes brings up his objectives in a very sharp way, seeking to set his negotiating position. This is always worth remembering," said the Yle report, quoting Orpo as saying.
He also said that all are prepared for the fact that there would be a lot of unexpected situations and there would be changes that will affect all, the Yle report added.
