Birth rate remains lower than death in Finland

The number of births was 14,300 lower than that of deaths in Finland in 2024, according to Statistics Finland.

According to the preliminary data, Finland's population was 5,637,214 at the end of December 2024.

In the course of 2024, Finland’s population grew by 33,363 persons.

The reason for the population increase was migration gain from abroad since immigration exceeded emigration by 48,546.

The number of immigrants, however, was 10,187 lower compared to the previous year.

The total fertility rate in Finland was 1.25 in 2024

The number of deaths was also 3,328 lower than in the year before.
