Road mishaps kill 171 in Finland last year

A total of 171 people were killed and 3,437 others injured in 2,776 road traffic accidents in Finland in 2024, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of deaths was 14 lower and the number of persons injured 205 lower than in the corresponding period of 2023.

Of the deceased, 85 travelled by passenger car, nine by van, five by moped, 16 by motorcycle and three by lorry.

Nineteen pedestrians, three riders of light electric vehicles, 15 cyclists on a traditional bicycle and one cyclist on an electric bicycle were killed.

In addition, 15 other road users were killed.
