Man killed as car sinks into ice in Luhanka lake

One person was killed in a car accident in Luhanka, a municipality in Central Finland on Sunday, police said in a press release.
The accident took place at about noon when a private car with two people onboard fell into Päijänne lake and sank into the ice near Syväsalmi area.
One of them died in the accident while the rest one managed to escape.
The deceased was a man of 25 years old.
Responding to an alarm, police and rescue service people rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
The person, who managed to escape was not injured, police said.
Police, however, did not divulge detail about the incident and the identities of the deceased and the rescued person.
Police and the Accident Investigation Board are investigating into the accident to find out the reason behind it.
