3-day strike at grocery stores begins

The ongoing strike at business sector enforced by Service Union United (Palvelualojen ammattiliitto-PAM) is beginning at grocery stores on Wednesday morning.

The strike will begin at 5:00 am and will continue until 5:00 a.m. on Saturday.

The strikes at stores will impact retailers selling groceries, including outlets of S Group, Kesko, and Lidl.

Earlier, on Monday PAM started 5-day strike at business sector demanding a collective agreement.

The strike at commerce sector logistics started at 5:00 a.m. on Monday and will continue until Thursday at 5:00 a.m.

The strikes will involve more than 70,000 workers.

Following the strike notices, the labour dispute has been mediated under the leadership of the National Conciliator but it failed to bring any result so far.

Earlier on February 12, PAM warned that the union would take legal action against the employers, if the workers face any discrimination for joining the strike.
