Man burnt to death in Joensuu house fire

A resident was burnt to death when a fire broke out in a building at Eno in Joensuu, a municipality under North Karelia region on Thursday morning, police said.

The fire broke out at about 9:00 a.m. and engulfed the house at Hepolammintie area immediately.

There were two residents in the house at that time and one of them managed to escape while the rest man, who was in his 60s was burnt to death.

Responding to an alarm, rescue service personnel and police rushed to the spot and recovered the body from the house.

Police, however, did not divulge the identity of the deceased.

The origin of the fire could not be known.

Rescue service people and police are investigating into the incident to find out the reason behind the fire.
