The Federation of Professional and Managerial Staff (YTN) decided to observe its first face strike on Friday as the negotiation talks to reach a new collective agreement with Technology Industries of Finland ended on Wednesday without any fruitful result.
“Unfortunately, it was not possible to reach a solution yet to settle the disputes concerning senior employees in the technology industry,” said YTN in a post on its social media platform X, adding that the strike announced earlier will be observed on Friday accordingly.
The negotiation talks, however, will resume on Monday.
Earlier on February 13, the YTN issued warning of a series of strikes in the engineering and technology sectors on February 28, March 7, March 14 and March 21 demanding a collective agreement.
In the first phase the strike will be observed on Friday at Metso, Nokia, Sumitomo SHI FW Energia, Valmet and Wärtsilä.
The subcontractors or temporary workers employed in industries other than the technology sector (such as the consulting sector) are not included in the strike.
The negotiations began in September. The employer has stuck to their ideological position that all senior salaried employees do not deserve a salary increase, said YTN.
The salary increases offered by the employers are minimal compared to inflation and the economy.
