Man kills woman in Kangasala, suspect held

A woman was killed allegedly by a man at Kangasala, a municipality in Pirkanmaa region on Thursday morning, police said.

The incident took place inside an apartment building at Kallentie area when the man attacked her with sharp weapon. The woman sustained severe wounds and died on the spot.

Responding an alarm at about 8:30 a.m. police and rescue service people rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the victim.

Police also arrested the suspect, a middle-aged local man and recovered the weapon from his possession.

Police, however, did not divulge the identities of the deceased and the suspect and their relation at the preliminary stage of the investigation but said that they knew each other.

Police are investigating into the case as murder.

The police will produce the suspect before the Pirkanmaa District Court on Friday.
