Woman gunned down in Kokkola, suspect held

A woman was killed when a miscreant attacked her with firearm near city centre of Kokkola, a municipality under Central Ostrobothnia region late Wednesday night, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place on a street in a residential area at about 9:00 p.m. when a man fired several gunshots at the woman.

The woman sustained severe bullet wounds at different parts of her body and taken to hospital in a critical condition where she succumbed to her injuries.

Police conducted extensive search at the locality and arrested the suspected killer immediately after the incident.

Police said that both the victim and suspect were middle-aged and known to each other but did not divulge their identities and relationship.

The police are investigating into the case as murder but did not disclose detail about the incident at the preliminary stage of the investigation.
