Two construction workers were killed in separate accidents at workplaces in Helsinki this week, reported national broadcaster Yle.

Police on Thursday said that an elderly worker of 62-year-old died on Tuesday at a building construction site on Sinimäentie, near Tapiola in Espoo.

He had been working as an assistant on a pile driver when he was struck and died on the spot.

Police are investigating the case as a suspected violation of occupational safety. In another accident, one worker was killed and another injured when a conveyor cage fell sideways at a fifth-floor level, dropping them from a height of 19 metres at

Kalasatama area in Helsinki on Monday. The dead was 29 years old.
