Number of marriages rises in Finland last year

A total of 21,420 marriages were entered into in 2024, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of marriages entered into increased by 727 from the previous year.

A total of 20,995 marriages between opposite-sex spouses were entered into, which is 675 more than in the year before.

Same-sex couples entered into 425 marriages, 52 more than in the previous year.

Meanwhile, a total of 11,869 marriages ended in divorce in 2024.

The average age at first marriage was 32.8 years for women and 34.7 years for men.
