2 Patria bosses resign after consultant death in Uganda

Two top ranking executives of the state-owned defence arms factory Patria resigned on Friday following the death of a Finn, reportedly a consultant of the company in Uganda.

Mika Kari, President of the Land Business Unit of Patria will leave the company immediately while Juha Simola, Senior Vice President of Patria’s Land Business Unit

Marketing and Sales also resigned from his position, said a company press release.

“Both (the officials) agreed to leave their office immediately,” the press release added.

The Finnish consultant, who reportedly went to Uganda to market the products of Patria was found dead in Kampala recently. The body was found in a hotel room.

Following the incident Economic Affairs Minister Mika Lintilä, who is responsible for state ownership steering, has asked a report from Patria in this regard.

Foreign Minister Timo Soini said he, too, is keeping a close watch on the developments in this regard, adding that the reason behind the death is still unclear.
