Police to intensify traffic surveillance this week

The police are planning to enhance traffic surveillance at the start of this week, reported local media.

The monitoring period will focus on traffic rule compliance, use of seat belt and use of mobile phones by motorists.

The police have pointed out that half of pedestrian injuries happen at pedestrian crossings.

The pedestrian crossings pose danger especially to the elderly and the children. The risk of accident increase when motorist’s attention is diverted elsewhere other than on the traffic.

The monitoring week will also pay specific attention to activities of motorists before reaching the pedestrian crossing.
