Kokoomus tops in popularity, SDP 2nd: Polls

Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party), a component of the three-party alliance government is the most popular political parties in the country, according to a survey by a Finnish language daily Helsingin Sanomat.

The main opposition party in the parliament Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP) remains second in the popularity list, said the survey.

According to the survey, the support for Kokoomus stands at 21.1 percent while SDP's support is at 20.8 percent, which is 0.3 percent lower than Kokoomus.

The ruling Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party of Finland) is the third most popular party with a 15.9 percent support.

The other parties support at the moment are as follows: Vihreä Liitto (Green League) 14.5 per-cent, Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party) 8.5 percent, Vasemmistoliito (Left Alliance) 8.5 percent, Ruotsalainenkansanpuolue (Swedish People's Party) 4.1 percent, Suomen Kristillisdemokraatit (Christian Democrats of Finland) 3.2 percent and Blue Reform (Sininen tulevaisuus-Siniset) 1.4 percent.

The survey was conducted by Kantar TNS. A total of 2,438 people were interviewed over phone between February 19 and March 15.
