2 killed, 3 hurt in road mishap near Ranua

Two people were killed and three others were injured in a road mishap on Monday afternoon at Pudasjärvi, about two kilometres from Ranua.
The police said the accident took place at about 12.45 pm when two private cars collided head on.
A man and a woman riding in one of the cars died on the spot while three people riding in the other car were injured critically.
The injured were taken to hospital by helicopter.
The reason behind the accident could not be ascertained immediately. The police said the weather condition was good and the surface of the road was dry at the time of the crash.
An investigation has been launched into the mishap.
