Special Adviser to the Ministry of Justice Tapani Mäkinen resigned on Tuesday in the wake of an allegation of corruption brought against him, reported the national broadcaster Yle.
In a Facebook post, Mäkinen said he cannot continue with doing his official duties as a police investigation was launched into the graft allegation made against him.
Mäkinen said according to the allegation lodged with the police by a unanimous person, he was involved in corruption while presiding over the Vantaa City Council in 2015.
The police in their investigation are trying to ascertain whether Mäkinen was really involved in bribery or abuse of his official position as alleged in that time.
Mäkinen, however, claimed he is not guilty of the alleged crimes.
He was appointed a special adviser to Justice Minister Häkkänen in May 2017.
