The Parliament of Finland will organise an Open House in the parliament’s main building from 11.00 am to 15.30 pm on May 5, said an official press release.

Guests are invited to see the Plenary Hall, the Hall of State, the Speaker’s Council Meeting Room as well as the Speaker’s office.

Parliamentary personnel will guide visitors through the house. MPs are also invited to meet citizens in the Hall of State. Refreshments will be served in the parliament cafeteria.

Visitors are asked to come to the door leading to the public gallery, which is located to the right of the main entrance. There is a security check at the entrance.

The authorities, however, alerted the visitors about plenty of stairs in parliament and few lifts in connection with the public entrance. The tour includes a lot of walking in stairs.

The visitors will be allowed to take photographs in parliament.

The Parliament House was designed by Johan Sigfrid Sirén in the classic style of the 1920s. The building was constructed in 1926-1931 and was officially inaugurated on 7 March 1931.
