1 killed as car collides with school bus at Ähtäri

One person was killed and six others were injured in a road accident at Ähtäri in southern Ostrobothnia on Friday.

The accident took place when a private car collided with a school bus and skidded off into a roadside ditch in the morning on highway 18, reported national broadcaster Yle.

Rescue sources said that the driver of the car died on the spot while five students and the driver of the bus were injured slightly.

The school bus was on its way to school with 18 vocational school students.

Rescue officials, however, said that the driving condition of the road was good.
