The Eastern Uusimaa District Court on Friday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for stabbing his three-year-old daughter to death in Porvoo in November 2017.
The court awarded the verdict as the allegations of abduction and murder brought against the French national were proved beyond doubt.
The judge in verdict termed the incident exceptionally cruel and brutal as the convict killed the minor girl in a pre-planned way.
The convict, however, denied the murder charges, although he admitted the incident.
According to the verdict, the convict snatched the girl from her mother on way to the day care and took her to a park near the Porvoo Lyceum. He stabbed the girl with a knife and wounded her critically.
Police rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the alarm and the girl succumbed to her wounds in the hospital.
The incident took place as a sequel to battle between the parents over the custody of the daughter.
The sentence will not be enforced at this moment as the man has the option to go to the higher court to appeal against the verdict.
The life term is 13 years imprisonment in Finland.
