Water bus capsizes in west coast, 27 rescued

A water bus capsized in the coastal waters of Pietarsaari on Thursday afternoon, reported the national broadcaster Yle quoting coast guards.

A total of 27 people were rescued from the water bus after the accident.

The incident took place at about 1:00 pm and emergency services received alarm that the water bus M/S Mässkär capsized in the water.

People from different agencies including coast guard, the police and rescue service rushed to the spot.

The water bus regularly runs between Jakobstad’s old harbour and the Mässkär Island.

On Thursday it left the dock at about 12:00 o’clock and was scheduled to return to Jakobstad’s old harbour at 4:00 pm.
