The Ministry of Interior proposed that the number of quota refugees for Finland to be raised 1050 from the existing number of 750, reported National broadcaster Yle.
The proposal was made in the report of the ministry's annual revenue and expenditures for next year.
The quota refugees number during the 2000's has been set to 750 people annually but the number was increased to 1050 in 2014 and 2015 for temporary period following situation in Syria.
Increasing the number of quota refugees would help the most vulnerable refugees, said the Interior Ministry report.
The ministry also said it expects that there will be some 3,000 fewer asylum seekers arriving to Finland next year, saying it anticipates some 4,000 individuals will apply for asylum, said the Yle report.
The government is expected to take decision in this regard at the end of this month.
