Santa’s post office stays closed for repairs

The Santa Claus’ Main Post Office located in the Arctic Circle will remain closed from September 15 to November 4 for renovation work, said Posti, the Finnish postal and logistic services operator, a press release.

In addition to local people, the Santa Claus’ Main Post Office serves approximately 500,000 tourists every year.

The post office that has been serving the Arctic Circle since 1991 will receive a new, vibrant interior this fall featuring Christmas themes.

During the renovation period, customers will be served at the Rovaniemi central Posti at Koskikatu and all parcels and other items requiring a signature that arrive to the residents of the Arctic Circle will also be directed to the central Posti.

The mailbox in front of Santa Claus’ Main Post Office on Tähtikuja, however, will be available all through the renovation period and all the items dropped in the box will receive the special postmark of Santa Claus’ Main Post Office.

The Rovaniemi central Posti at Koskikatu remains open from 8.00am to 8.00pm from Monday to Friday and from 10.00am to 3.00pm on Saturday. The outlet is located in the Revontuli shopping centre.
