Prime Minister Juha Sipilä and the visiting Vice President of Argentina Garbiela Michetti on Wednesday discussed ways of promoting free trade and closer bilateral commercial cooperation.
The discussion was held in a meeting at the House of the Estates in Helsinki, said an official press release.
The visit of Michetti hosted by Sipilä is in celebration of the centennial of Finland-Argentina relations. Argentina was the first non-European country to recognise Finland’s independence.
Besides discussing bilateral relations, Sipilä highlighted the potential for cooperation, especially in bioeconomy and forestry as well as in education, digitalisation, and energy.
Argentina currently holds the G20 presidency. Sipilä congratulated Argentina on its successful constructive role as the G20 president to date. Finland’s participation in G20 cooperation has been highly rewarding, particularly in the field of education.
Sipilä and Michetti also noted that both the countries are advocates of rules-based international system and multilateral cooperation.
