21 killed in road mishaps in August

At least 21 persons were killed and 543 other injured is 436 separate road accidents across the country in August, according to Statistics Finland.
The number of persons killed was six higher than the number deaths in August 2017 while the number of injured persons was six lower.
Of the persons who were killed, 13 travelled by private car, two by motorcycle and four by bus. Cyclists killed in road traffic accidents numbered two. Among those who died, 14 were men and seven were women.
A total of 2,831 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to August period. In them, 139 persons were killed and 3,581 persons injured.
The number of persons killed was seven lower and that of persons injured 35 lower than in the corresponding period of 2017.
