19 killed in road mishaps in September

At least 19 people were killed and 440 injured in 389 separate road accidents across the country in September, according to Statistics Finland.
The number of deaths was five more than that in September 2017 while the number of the injured was 73 less.
Of the persons who were killed, seven travelled by passenger cars, one by van and two by motor-cycle. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered five and cyclists three.
In addition, one other road user was killed. Of the dead, 14 were men and five were women.
A total of 159 persons were killed and 4,037 injured in 3,235 road traffic accidents that took place in the country in January to September.
The number of persons killed was one less and the number of persons injured was 108 less than that in the corresponding period of 2017.
