Police renew badge design, old badge valid till expiry

The badges used by security authorities were renewed in December 2018, said a press release issued by National Police Board.

The police badge was included in the reform but will not be replaced all at once. The badge will be replaced gradually as their validity expires. Therefore, police officers will be using two different badges for a period of approximately five years.

People van check the badges on the police website and in the appended pictures. To prevent forgeries, the pictures on the website have been stamped as ‘Specimen’. Obviously, the stamp is not present in authentic badges.

If necessary, a police officer shall declare to the person targeted by an action that he or she is a police officer and, on request, present his or her badge, if such a declaration or presentation is possible without jeopardising the completion of the action.

The badge reform applies not only to the police but also the organisational cards of the Customs, the Border Guard and the rescue authorities.

The Population Register Centre issues the organisational cards intended for the use of organisations, alongside certificates, and ensures the data security of electronic services for the organisations.
