Man sentenced to 5 years for human trafficking

The District Court of Kainuu on Friday has sentenced a man to five years imprisonment for aggravated human trafficking, reported Finnish language daily Kaleva.
The crime was perpetrated for over six years from March 2010 to November 2016.
According to the verdict, violence was used in the act against a person whose ability to defend themselves was partially substantially impaired.
The court also ruled that the duration when the crime was committed was long and crime and deemed the crime as whole gross.
On the basis of evidence, the court observed that the victim has been subjected to sexual abuse and that the victim's dependent status and unsafe situation was exploited.
The court fined the man 5,000 euros for harm and suffering caused, 20,000 euros for causing emotional distress and 24,000 euros for loss of earnings incurred.
Furthermore, the man was order to pay 100 euros in legal costs, 141 euros in cost of evidence and about 8,200 euros in legal representation fees for the claimant.
