Pochettino, Guardiola ready for Spurs-Man City CL clash

Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino says his side's Champions League quarterfinal first leg tie at home to Manchester City on Tuesday night is one of the most important games of his career.

Tottenham will welcome City to their new 62,000-seater stadium looking to qualify for the semifinals of the Champions League for the first time in the club's history, against a City team that is aiming to lift an incredible four titles this season.

"In the last few years Manchester City are building to try to win everything. They have a very good squad and one of the best managers in the world. If one team can do it, it is Manchester City."

"For us, it is a bonus to play in the quarterfinals. We are going to try to beat them. The objective is to be in the semifinals but it is going to be tough because Manchester City are a very good team and we respect them," said Pochettino in his pre-game press conference.

The coach added that he was looking for the home fans to create a special atmosphere in what will be only the second competitive game to be held in the stadium.

"It is our second game in our new stadium and the first in the Champions League, so we hope the atmosphere is amazing and tough for our opponent."

"We want to start tomorrow being very aggressive and try to dominate. We have had time to prepare for the game," Pochettino added.

City coach Pep Guardiola highlighted that his side had played and won an FA Cup match on Saturday, while Tottenham hadn't played since last week's round of Premier League fixtures.

"Of course, it's an advantage [for Tottenham] but to fight for everything, you have to overcome that," he said.

"Spurs have had six days to prepare and we have had two and a half, but when you play this amount of games and win the Carabao Cup, it's normal. If we were out of the cup, we would have had more days. Big clubs don't complain about these situations. We are enjoying it a lot," he added.
