France almost no resistance to USA

Team USA secures their first win at the Ice Hockey World Championship here beating France 7-1 in Group A clash on Sunday.

Three early goals laid the foundations for a strong win against the struggling France.

The game was decided in the first six minutes. USA's Alex Debrincat scored twice and Frank Vatrano added one after a quick spin to capitalize on a rebound to provide a nice three-goal cushion for the Americans.

Coach Jeff Blashill had to be content with his team's play. They added two more goals in the second, and after Chris Kreider's shot through traffic went in, leading early in the third period with a massive 6-0 difference.

France managed a to score a goal of honor in the 47th minute thanks to Anthony Rech's emphasis in front of Thatcher Demko's goal, but Colin White concluded the lopsided battle with a between the legs rebound to seal the victory in 7-1.

The USA will face the young five-goal Fin Kaapo Kakko and his squad on Monday, France will enjoy a day's rest and battle for their first world championship win against Germany on Tuesday.
