Finland lost first points at hockey worlds after USA's Dylan Larkin scored the deciding overtime goal of their Group A clash on Monday to put the game away at 3-2.

Finland had to bounce back after a terrible start into the game. USA's Brady Skjei launched a missile from the blue line in the first minute and Johnny Gaudreau extended the lead 10 minutes later with a backhander from an almost impossible angle from behind the goal line that bounced off Veini Vehvilainen's shoulder into the net, 2-0.

Hari Pesonen started Finland's comeback a minute before the first buzzer and Niko Ojamaki answered his call before the second to tie the game at 2-2.

After a goalless third, the even duel continued with a 3-on-3 overtime that saw Dylan Larkin's effort decide the game for the United States.

Team USA will continue their championship journey on Wednesday against the still pointless Great Britain, and Finland will face off against Denmark on Thursday.
