Finland scored their third victory in the Ice Hockey World Championship as they beat Denmark by 3 goals to 1 at Steel Arena in Slovakia late Thursday night.
News Agency Xinhua adds: Finland answers Denmark's opener with three straight goals to win the Group A match.
After a goalless first period, the Nordic derby was decided by three goals in the second. Finland bounced back after a powerplay goal by Denmark's Morten Madsen with their young star Kaapo Kakko tying the game on a tremendous individual effort, dekeing out first the defender and then the goalie.
Sakari Manninen put the Finns into the lead after he forced the puck into Sebastian Dahm's net on a backhander from close range and Harri Pesonen stretched the lead to 3-1 in the third period, redirecting Kakko's shot through the goalie's legs.
The Finns now trail group-leading Germany by two points and will meet the struggling Great Britain on Friday. Denmark will try to cut into the three-point difference to USA in a direct confrontation on Saturday.
