Suarez, Cavani return to Uruguay squad

Luis Suarez, Edinson Cavani and Diego Godin have returned to Uruguay's squad for friendlies against Peru next month, the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) said on Friday.

The trio missed Uruguay's friendlies against Costa Rica and the US earlier this month because of leg muscle injuries but have since recovered.

Head coach Oscar Tabarez also recalled defender Mathias Suarez, forward Gaston Pereiro and midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro.

The 26-man preliminary list only includes players based outside of Uruguay. The AUF said the final squad would be named in early October.

The Celeste will host Peru in Montevideo on October 10 before a rematch at the Estadio Nacional in Lima four days later.

Following is the Uruguay squad:

Goalkeepers: Fernando Muslera, Martin Campana.

Defenders: Diego Godin, Jose Maria Gimenez, Sebastian Coates, Martin Caceres, Gaston Silva, Mathias Suarez.

Midfielders: Diego Laxalt, Lucas Torreira, Matias Vecino, Federico Valverde, Rodrigo Bentancur, Naithan Nandez, Brian Lozano, Giorgian de Arrascaeta , Marcelo Saracchi, Nicolas Lodeiro.

Forwards: Gaston Pereiro, Brian Rodriguez, Jonathan Rodriguez), Darwin Nunez, Maximiliano Gomez, Luis Suarez, Edinson Cavani, Cristian Stuani.
