Russians sweep top 3 in winter triathlon WC elite groups

Russian athletes swept the top three places in the elite groups of the 2020 Harbin ITU Winter Triathlon World Cup in Harbin, capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province on Saturday.

Pavel Andreev won a gold medal in the elite men's group and his compatriot Evgenii Evgrafov and Pavel Yakimov finished second and third respectively.

On the women's side, Russia also dom, with Daria Rogozina winning in 1 hour 34 minutes 27 seconds, followed by two other Russians.

The 2020 Harbin ITU Winter Triathlon World Cup consists of running, mountain biking and cross-country skiing. The total distance is 29.82km.

In addition to the elite groups, the competition also set up 12 groups including men's and women's youth groups.

The competition attracted about 300 entries from dozens of countries and regions.

As an early city in the development of ice and snow sports in China, Harbin has been expanding its mass base of winter sports in recent years by organizing competitions and mass sports events.
