More than 100 golfers participated in the Moutai Golf Cup 2021 at the Paloheinä Golf course in Helsinki on Saturday.

Members of the Paloheinä Golf club participated in the event in two categories-Couple Scramble and Range-jointly organised by Moutai Finland Paloheinä Golf.

Tuija Kottonen won in the range category while Antti Kivipuro and Tiia Kivipuro won in the couple scramble category with high handicaps and a good number of shots recorded, the organizers said.

Without having any professional golf background, all the winners had earlier been to several local golf competitions.

“We didn’t expect to win today. But our high handicaps really helped. For me, couple’s scramble is a good way to start with golf as it is relaxing and you are under no pressure if the first shot fails,” Antti Kivipuro, one of the winners, told the Daily Finland. “You can always do it better in the next shots.”

After the successful holding of the first golf cup, Kivipuro said that Moutai Finland, along with Paloheinä, was planning to make it an annual event for all golf-lovers in Helsinki for the next three years.

“The organizers have done such a good job in the first event. Everything went smoothly. The preparations were good. The players had a great team spirit, too,” Kivipuro added.

The organizers said that the purpose of the event was to hold a friendly golf competition for all Paloheinä Golf club members while showcasing the Moutai brand and its products.

“Playing golf with people is an efficient way of communication with someone you already know or get to know. Creative ideas, business partnership and harmony can be created on the golf course,” Niki Pihlström, the representative of Paloheinä Golf, told the Daily Finland.

“The relationship between liquor and golf is elegant. It is all about spending your leisure time with friends and sharing favorite drinks.” Jouko Heikura, the owner of the Paloheinä Golf course, said.

Tang Chao, the representative of Moutai Finland, the main distributor of Chinese Moutai spirit in Finland, said that the Paloheinä Golf was their key target group in Finland.

“It is a common sport for people to relax and enjoy the nature on Paloheinä’s ideal location as the nearest golf course from the city center,” Chao added.

He said that his company reached an agreement with Paloheinä Golf to promote its product by organising such events. “Moutai will also be Paloheinä’s long-run partner to offer exotic food and drink experiences for local people while enjoying playing golf.”

2020 has marked the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Finland when both the countries had seen a number of fruitful cooperation efforts. As the main gateway from Asia to Europe, Finland plays an important role in China’s strategy of promoting and facilitating Chinese products and culture in Europe, Chao added.
